I cant believe it....I read the first few lines of your review of Munich (a movie that I thought I really liked)and I made up my mind that I would totally disagree with your viewpoints. By the time I was done with your review, I realized Munich really was bad and worse yet, I felt stupid about actually having liked it!
Falstaff, your reviews of great movies are good and bad movies..even better!!

Neela: Thanks for the tip, but I have already seen it. Actually, I reviewed it as well - see my post on Nov 15th.

doz: To be fair, I have to admit I wasn't that bored for the first half of the film - it's when they stopped popping people off and started being angsty all over the place that I really lost it. That last half an hour I was literally throwing up my hands each time a new scene began going - huh? It's STILL not over?

Know what you mean about NY Times Critics. Stephen Holden usually gets it right though - or at least he's only slightly off the mark. But as you say - thank God for the New Yorker.

"it's not clear why his conscience took so long to kick in" - exactly how I felt - even the toy maker was faster at questioning the whole idea than the designated soul-searcher in this movie.
And as for how the movie was - you're right, it is very very predictable. I'd forgotten all about 'Catch me if you can' & Munich feels like the terrorist version of that overly cutesy-movie. I am a sucker for travelogues though, and I didn't feel too bored as they went about mechanically popping folks off, because the victims were in so many different locales.
Also agree with you about Ms. Dargis. I've found out the hard way that I don't really agree with not just her, but even AO Scott. It kinda shakes your faith in life when you can't trust the Times' critics. All the more reasons to thank God for the New Yorker.
